Best Day of Rest...EVER!

My mom and sis, Cindy took the kids to Estes Park today to see the elk. They are bugeling right now and there was also a huge Elk Fest up there. .

So, today, while the kids were in Estes, I slept IN, enjoyed a delicious brunch (ginger scones, strawberries, honeydew melon, grapes and a cup of chai) while watching a mini-marathon of "Raising the Bar" episodes on DVD. It was the most restful "day of rest" I have had in a long, long time! It was awesome!

Thank you Mom and Cindy!!!!

The kids are going to sleep well tonight.

Swinging

Rick hung two awesome swings from the tree in our front yard. They have been quite a hit, with our kids, as well as the neighborhood kids (and adults)!

BowlGolf

What? You've never heard of bowlgolfing? Well, it's a really skill-based game/sport invented by Nicole. Don't feel too bad if you haven't heard of it before, it's relatively new, as of last Saturday. After dinner at Bojos and a walk around Old Town, we hit Fort Fun for some bowlgolf and skiball. Half way through the first course, Nicole came up with a different way to play mini-golf and named it "bowlgolf", which is pretty self-explainatory. We laughed ourselves silly. It was exactly what I needed after a stressful week. Thank goodness for good friends.

End of Summer

We are loving my new schedule. Every Friday we get to spend the day together. We headed over to the Loveland lake where the kids played in the water, we built "swimming pools" for the local water beetles and looked for fish. Now that kids are back in school and the summer is coming to an end, we had it all to ourselves.

Tour de Fat

We went to the annual Tour de Fat in Old Town. There were over 15,000 people that rode in the parade this year! It was awesome. It's really fun to go see the creative costumes people come up with.
Some of my favorite were:
"Gold Diggers"--a group of ladies dressed in gold sequens, painted gold with tool belts on
"Vikings"--Cardboard cutouts of viking ships on each side of their bikes, with full Viking attire
"PackMan being Chased by ghosts"--A huge cut out of Packman hanging infront of a bike, the man on the bike, his wife and kids following along, dressed as the Packman Ghosts
One guy had a basket of sunflowers and pulled over and handed one to Addison. It was cute. The people next to us applauded him.
A couple people tossed out candy to the kids or rode by giving "high fives". Mcayden loved that.

After the parade, we went with our friends to the Brazil Fest. Addison couldn't get enough Guarana (delicious Brazilian pop) and Mcayden played with the grasshoppers.

Sushi!

My friend took me out for sushi last weekend. It was my first time having "real" sushi, at a "real" sushi bar. We ordered a variety of sushi, including sushi with salmon, eel and crabmeat. Debbie recommended the eel and it was really good.
I was surprised how chewey sushi was. Once I got past the texture, it was pretty good. I wasn't a big fan of the salmon though--it made me want to gag. My favorite was the California rolls. Probably not considered "real" sushi by some, but I love crab meat (even if it's artificial).

School's In!

Mcayden with his friend, Emmy.

Mcayden is back in preschool for his last year (now as a "Pre-K" student). He loves school and couldn't wait to go. It was a count down all week with "What is today? What day is school again?" I love that he enjoys it so much. He's especially excited for show-n-tell and playing with the new toys.
