These are the Days

There is a great song called "These are the Days" by Natalie Merchant (10,000 Maniacs). It's a song I remember from highschool. I remember hearing it for the first time, sitting in the auditorium. It played as we watched a slide show of the previous year. Now, watching our kids grow up and realizing how precious this time is in our lives, made me think of it.

"These are days you'll remember. Never before and never since, I promise. You'll know it's true that you are blessed and lucky. When May is rushing over you with desire to be part of the miracles you see in every hour. These are the days that you might fill with laughter until you break..."

Addison is almost six months old. Can you believe it? It doesn't feel like it has been six months to us. How time is passing. She will share her six month birthday with her Grammie Bohn, later this month!

She is such a little sweetie, her big smiles and ever-growing curiosity is so fun to see. She has started scooting and goes for what she wants. She's interested in everything around her--especially Mcayden.

Speaking of Mcayden...

Mcayden playing in a puddle outside. We love watching him entertain himself and have so much fun with simple things like this!
Mcayden practiced his multi-tasking skills, and while running his cars around in the puddle, he also washed his hair.

Fruit Salad...
This is the fruit salad I made for our MOPS brunch. I had to take pictures! I was so proud it turned out so nicely. (Val, thanks for helping me decide what fruit to put in it!)It looked and tasted delicious! It was funny because some people thought I cut the stars out with a cookie cutter--just like I had thought when I saw starfruit for the first time.

So They All Rolled Over and One Fell Off

Yesterday I got this children's song stuck in my head. You may know it, "There were five in a bed when the little one said, 'Roll over! Roll over!' So, they all rolled over and one fell off." It goes like that counting from ten to one and the kid's voice on the CD is one of those taunting-like voices.
So, last night Rick and I climbed into bed and I asked, "Do you know what song I have in my head?", and I proceeded to sing it. Rick was like, "No!" He paused for a second and then started singing, "Far...We've been traveling far...without a home..." Yes, Rick started singing "America" by Neil Diamond. We both started cracking up and when it would get quiet, we'd both start singing the songs again. Fortunately we both agree that "America" is a much better song to have stuck in our heads and we were able to get some sleep.

All Better

Yesterday, when Rick and Mcayden were at Target, Mcayden was riding in the cart and noticed some scratches on Rick's knuckles and hands. Mcayden looked up at Rick and said, "Daddy, owie" and Rick answered "uh-huh", distracted as he looked down the aisle. Mcayden leaned down and kissed his hand and said, "All Better, Daddy. All Better!"

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rick really wanted to see the leaves up in the mountains, so on Saturday we took a trip up to the Rocky Mountain National Park. It was soooooo beautiful. We saw a ton of elk, a couple deer, endless mountain ranges and beautiful, fall leaves.

We bought Mcayden a little chipmunk finger puppet, at the ranger station, and he just loved it. At one of the view points, a ranger came up to Mcayden with his big, hand puppet chipmunk and said hi. It was really cute. The ranger told Mcayden his chipmunk was much closer to the size of a real chipmunk! A couple of minutes later, a real chipmunk scampered by--Mcayden thought that was really cool.
Some antlers they had up at the view point. They also had coyote fur you could touch and feel.

A view from the top of the Rockies. The elevation at the top of Longs Peak is 14,259 feet! Breathtaking (literally). Both Rick and I got light headed. It is so high!

On our way down the mountain, we stopped at this meadow and watched the elk for a while. They were bugling and running around. They make the neatest sounds! It was really beautiful. Rick said he could have watched them all day. But, we have two little kids and honestly, my attention span for watching animals is closer to theirs, so after about 20 minutes, we headed towards Estes Park.

Estes Park has a lot of fun, little shops. We stopped in a really cool glass shop and got to watch some glass blowing. Mcayden and Addison were given "lucky stars" just for being there (little, flat, round circles with a star in the middle--blown glass). It was so nice! I think I'll make them into magnents.

After dinner in the park, Mcayden got to play in the river and splash around. Luckily he didn't fall in. We totally thought he was going to go in head first as I shot this picture!

A Sassy Sweater

Auntie Val (a good friend of ours) made this darling sweater for Addison before she was born. It fits her perfectly! Thanks, Val!

The Biz!

So, it's official, we are in business! This is our business name/logo. We're so excited. Rick has been working hard and has a couple of new clients. We were brainstorming names and I kept suggesting "Chop! Chop!", but it got the thumbs down. :) We're happy with the name and logo we have now and even more happy to be up and running.
