Sushi!

My friend took me out for sushi last weekend. It was my first time having "real" sushi, at a "real" sushi bar. We ordered a variety of sushi, including sushi with salmon, eel and crabmeat. Debbie recommended the eel and it was really good.
I was surprised how chewey sushi was. Once I got past the texture, it was pretty good. I wasn't a big fan of the salmon though--it made me want to gag. My favorite was the California rolls. Probably not considered "real" sushi by some, but I love crab meat (even if it's artificial).

School's In!

Mcayden with his friend, Emmy.

Mcayden is back in preschool for his last year (now as a "Pre-K" student). He loves school and couldn't wait to go. It was a count down all week with "What is today? What day is school again?" I love that he enjoys it so much. He's especially excited for show-n-tell and playing with the new toys.

Spaghetti Pie

I was preparing dinner the other night and had just poured the pasta into boiling water when Addison looked at me and asked, "Mac and cheese?"

Mcayden piped up, "Mom, what are you making?"

Me: "I'm making spaaaaagetti pie!"

Mcayden: "Oh, no, Mommy. We have apples. You can make apple pie! Don't make spaghetti pie."

Blog Slacker

I know, I know. I am a blog slacker.
So, since my last post...

  • We got a new washer a dryer. Big, wonderful ones.
  • Our baby girl turned two and her daddy, 32.
  • Auntie Debbie came to visit our family and spoil the munchkins.
  • We went camping over the 4th of July and I got pretty good at the card game "speed".
  • My Scentsy business has continued to grow, I attended national convention, and drooled over all the new products.
  • Rick went on a solo road trip to Ut., riding a Harley. Loved it.
  • Grammy B and Auntie Cindy came for a visit, spoiled the kids, helped a ton and headed home.
  • We hired a new nanny and sadly let our other one go.
  • Rick's business is growing and we're so thankful.
  • Mcayden has become an avid worm and bug "hunter".
  • Addison is our little sweetie and loves snuggling and reading books.
  • Rick found Rouga (our turtle) a new home and got fish.
  • I have started working four tens so I can have more time with my kids.
  • We layed on the hammock and had a conversation with a squirrel for 10 minutes yesterday.
  • Rick started a new job and hired someone to run the lawn care biz.
  • I've redecorated Addison's room and am in the process of doing Mcayden's room.
  • I've been fighting the flu.
  • The kids have been enjoying their new nanny, playing with playdough and going to the park.
  • I've slacked on my blogging.

Money Well Spent

Mcayden wanted a bike really bad, so we decided to let him earn the money to buy one. Every day, for a month he made his bed, got dressed and helped Mommy during the day. "Rocket" is a red and yellow bike that has left our little guy BEAMING with pride. He rides it up and down the sidewalk grinning ear to ear. The best part about it is that he knows he earned it.

Meet the Laundromat

As luck would have it, both our washer and dryer broke within days of each other. So, on Saturday we had a little laundromat family outing. It started out pretty good. We found a near by laundromat that included free wifi, complementray Starbucks coffee and herbal tea, comfy couches. It was almost like a laundromat cafe. If it only had cupcakes...
After doing three hundred loads of laundry and spending way too much money to use the washers and dryers, we folded and folded. Rick and I were both exhaused and the kids were ready to be done with the whole "family time at the laundromat" thing. But, I'll tell you, having all the laundry done is wonderful! Now to find a new washer and dryer...

In a Nutshell

My goodness a lot has happened since my last post!
I started an amazing job, that I love! (The same one I had posted about interviewing for.) I'm a Curriculum Designer and write curriculum for TiVo. It is a lot of fun and we LOVE having a TiVo. (Let me know if you want one, I can get you a HUGE discount! They are amazing!)

Rick and I had a "conversation" months ago where he said if he was home all day then everything would be done (i.e. laundry, dinner, clean house, happy kids, etc.) every day. Yes, he said EVERY. DAY. Well, now that he has been home with two little busy people, for over a month, he understands a bit more about how crazy it is and why the laundry piles up. Ah, it makes me smile. I am glad he understands a little more and I love that the kids have had this time with Daddy all to themselves.
Now that Spring is on it's way, Rick is ramping up to get his biz rollin'. He has a new commercial account and is excited to get going with the advertizing, etc.
We recently hired a nanny who will start watching the kids in April. She comes highly recommended and is so sweet. She's great--the kiddos are going to love her!
So there you have it. In a nutshell!
